CM failing to change IP anywhere other than the UI

Host OS: CentOS 6 Guest OS: CentOS 7

I edited the IP on a VM through my CM master. It saved it but only seems to have done anything with the UI.

I had to:

  1. Shutdown the VM
  2. xm destroy/delete the domain
  3. edit the /xen/domain.cfg file
  4. mount the LVM and change the interface address manually
  5. unmount the LVM
  6. xm new the domain again
  7. update the DNS on the CM master
  8. edited /etc/webmin/servers/1461731772293160.serv
  9. restart the VM through the web interface on the CM master

Jamie, you have the credentials for my CM master. Feel free to edit the owncloud VM. find any vacant IP to test.

On which page in Cloudmin did you edit the VM's IP address?

The right place is the Network Interfaces pages, which should update the IP in the Xen config, and on the VM's filesystem.

I clicked on the VM and on the details page, there is a field for the IP. I changed it there. It seems to only add an ip_forced with the new IP rather than change it. I can see how the network interface will do it too but it seems this is not so obvious.

Oh right - that field only controls the IP that Cloudmin uses to connect to the VM or physical system. It's useful for systems that are behind NAT or something, in which the hostname does not resolve to the IP that should be used for management.

I wonder if a queue on that page might be to change the physical NIC IP on the Network Configuration page and an explanation of what that field is for.

Yeah, I'll add some help text for this.
