Saslauthd replacement

Could you please tell me how to move off Saslauthd authentication in the best way? As far as I know Saslauthd uses plaintext authentication? I would like to use Encrypted Password/ Kerberos / NTLM maybe?

What is the use of Saslauthd?

Are there better ways of authentication?

What services under standard Webmin/Virtualmin setup are using Saslauthd daemon?

Saslauthd is required by Postfix, and is the only SMTP authentication mechanism supported by Virtualmin.

The manpage does state "plaintext". That is correct, the authentication itself is performed in plaintext, but mail clients wrap it in TLS/SSL.
