Backup is not backing any folder with the name "logs" when the option "Include Log Files" is selected

Hello,

referring this forum post http://virtualmin.com/node/34799#comment-138697

I found out that the backup process is excluding any directory with the name "logs" no matter its depth in the user directory if the option "Include Log Files" is not selected.

so I made a test on a clean machine.

if the "Include Log Files" is selected then all folder is included in the backup files. meanwhile if that option is not selected then any folders with the name "logs" is not included in the backup no matter where is it placed.

I believe that any file under the home dir is not a log file related to the server logs, please fix it because I have an application that use "logs" as web element and that broke the site when it was restored from a hard disk crash.

Thanks

Mazen

Hmm ..this may not be easy to fix. The reason is that Virtualmin uses the tar command for backups, and it's exclusion flag doesn't have a way to specify a directory vs sub-directory.

well, good luck Jamie :)

Ok, I figured out how to get tar to do what I want - the fix will be included in the next Virtualmin release.

A new version of Virtualmin (4.12) that includes this fix will be out early next week.
