I have a virtual server with externally hosted dns. i ran across the suggested dns records feature and noticed this is NOT availab for local dns hosted virtual servers. I think this functionality should be available for all virtual servers as a means of double checking the system if/(or in my case when) it fails to generate ipv6 or other records properly.

The "suggested DNS records" feature isn't necessary for locally hosted domains, as those are the records that Virtualmin actually creates.

except when virtualmin doesn't create them...lie my ipv6 dns records i have had an open ticket on in forever.

If webmin doesn't create the records normally, they won't appear in the "Suggested DNS Records" either.
